#RevolutionNow:Security Operatives Scatter Protesters, Places FCT, Lagos Others Under Surveillance

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja, today came under security surveillance as combine team of the Department of State Services, Army and Police dispersed and arrested some members of the #RevolutionNow who had gathered at Berger Roundabout to embark on peaceful protest.

Their protest among other things, include the demands to: Stop the killings in the country and sack all the incompetent service chiefs; stop all estimated billing by the power companies, provide pre-paid meters for free, and communities must have the right to audit the electricity bills they get, and review the licences of all distribution companies; abolish tuition fees in universities and secondary schools; Employment for the youths.

Mr Pelumi Olajegbensi who led the protest lamented on the growing insecurity in the country and the state of the economy.

He said:”“There is a need for us as young people who are interested in the future of this country to raise our voices so we can be heard.

“Nigeria is currently in a state of emergency, our country has been reduced to a state of surrender; we cannot continue like this.

“Today, we are concerned as young people that a lot of our youths graduate from tertiary institutions and are unemployed because there is no job for them, this has increased the rate of crime in the country.

“Our demand today is for a conscious political revolution, a need for change in leadership”.

Reports from Lagos said that the planned protest by #RevolutionNow beginning from Computer village, Ikeja was aborted as security operatives scattered the group and traders with year gas cannisters
