The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Malam Muhammad Musa Bello has been decorated with the emblem of the 2021 Armed Forces Remembrance Day celebration by the National Chairman of the Nigerian Legion, Brigadier General Adakole Jones, Akpa (Rtd).
In the brief ceremony which took place at the Minister’s office at the FCTA, other senior members of staff of the Administration were also decorated.
Speaking at the event, the FCT Minister pledged the support of the FCT Administration for the success of the yearly event to celebrate Nigeria’s fallen heroes.
Malam Bello also assured his guests that members of the public and staff of the Administration will be encouraged to wear the emblem.
In his words, “I assure you that the Administration will do what it has always done every year, work very closely with your team to ensure that the emblem is rightly distributed among our staff and also the general public and encourage wearing of the emblem. We will work together up till the final climax, by the Grace of God, on 15th January 2021”.
The Minister also commended members of the Legion for their dedication to duty especially as supportive security personnel.
Malam Bello pledged the support of the Administration to the Legion for its proposed business ventures especially in public transportation and agriculture.
Earlier, the Chairman of the Nigeria Legion, Brigadier General Adakole Jones, Akpa (Rtd), had expressed the appreciation of the Legion to the FCTA for its previous support and solicited for assistance for the success of the 2021 Armed Forces Remembrance Day celebration. He also commended the FCT Administration for its handling of the COVID-19 pandemic in the Territory.
Also present at the event were the Secretary General of the Nigerian Legion, Group Captain K.A. Ade (Rtd) the Director of Veteran Affairs, Defence Headquarters Maj. Gen. L.F Abdullahi, the Chief of Staff to the FCT Minister, Malam Bashir Mai Bornu, the Director of Human Resources Management of the FCTA, Alh. Bashir Muhammed and the FCTA Director of Security Services, Mr Adamu Gwary.
