AOCOED Presents Jakande With Fellowship Award

The Governor of Lagos State, Akinwunmi Ambode has urged 5,674 Adeniran Ogunsanya College Of Education (AOCOED) graduands to strive in all circumstances to retain and develop the scholastic attribute that have been abundantly planted in them during their years in the college.
This is just as the management of the college decorated the first Civilian Executive Governor of Lagos state, His Excellency, Pa Alhaji Lateef Kayode Jakande, with its Fellowship Award.
Optimum Times reports that for 2016/2017 graduands , Ojumola Marvelous Pelu of PHY/MAT department, emerge the best graduating student with GP 4.55, for 2015/2016 graduands is Olanrewaju Adijat Omowunmi of MAT/CSC department with GP 4.39 while for 2014/2015 graduands is Isha Yusuf of CHE/MAT department with GP 4.33 amongst 5, 674 graduands across the Full-time Nigerian Certificate of Education (NCE) programme, school of Part-time studies Programme and Centre for Outreach Programme of the College.
The Moderator of the College, Gov. Akinwumi Ambode who was represented by the commissioner of Agriculture, Suarau Oluwatoyin said this at the Adeniran Ogunsanya College Of Education (AOCOED) 36th, 37th, and 38th Joint Convocation which was held on Tuesday, May 14,2019 at Senator Oluremi Tinubu Multipurpose Hall in the campus, Oto/Ijanikin, Lagos state.
During his address, Ambode avered that the convocation does not only provide an opportunity for celebration for graduates , their family and well-wishers but also an occasion that calls for reflection stating that no nation rises above the quality of its teachers.
Furthermore, the Governor noted that the college and all its 31 programmes were fully accredited in the 2018 accreditation exercise “I was reliably informed that 62 lecturers in the college have Doctorate degree in different fields while many others have reached advance stage in their various Ph.D programmes.” He said
The Provost, AOCOED, Mrs. O.A Ladele in her address , highlighted some of the constraints militating against the smooth operations of the college to fully actualize its goals and objectives.
The completion of the office space (Administrative Building), Pending request for certificate of accupancy (C of O) for land allocated to the college by the government in Otto-AworiJobiti Scheme since 2009, Inadequate Infrastructure Road Network in College and Staff Welfare, all these she said if addressed will improve the standing of the college as a key player in the repositioning of Teacher Education in Lagos State.
Also speaking, Chairman Governing Council of the college, Prof. Tunde Samuel appreciated the Governor for the approval of increment of Monthly Subvention from N125M to N200M.
However, according to him, the current administration began the process of restructuring the obnoxious and illegal practices, which had given the past administrations windows of opportunity to siphon tax payers’ money, “with the restructuring, all the conduit pipes were blocked.” he said
Amongst other awardees are Senator representing Lagos West Senatorial district, Senator Olamilekan Solomon Adeola, and Chief Officer, fams Embassy Hotel, Badagry, Lagos, Alhaji Fatai Adegboyega Shokunbi, both received Diamond Award of the college.
The College also accepted into its Alumni Chairman, Committee on Education, Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon Olanrewaju Ogunyemi, and Processor of sport administration and management, faculty of education, department of Human Kinetics, Sport Science and Health Education, Lagos State University (LASU), Ojo, Lagos State, Clement Fasan.
